NOAA Optimum Interpolation 0.25° Daily SST Blended with AVHRR and AMSR data

NCDC/NOAA daily High-Resolution SST blended with the observations from the Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer and Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer

This dataset is a SST product developed at NCDC/NOAA using the optimum interpolation (OI). The in situ SST data are blended with those observed by the Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) and Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer (AMSR) on the satellites of NASA Earth Observing System. The analyses have a spatial grid resolution of 0.25° and temporal resolution of 1 day. The AMSR+AVHRR product begins with the start of AMSR data in June 2002. In this product, the primary AVHRR contribution is in the regions near land where AMSR is not available. However, in cloud-free regions, both infrared and microwave instruments are used for reducing the systematic biases.
