Global Data Assimilation Experiment (GODAE) High Resolution Sea Surface Temperature Data

The Global Ocean Data Assimilation Experiment (GODAE) High Resolution Sea Surface Temperature Pilot Project (GHRSST-PP) was initiated to develop an operational system to produce a climate quality sea surface temperature (SST) data product to serve the needs of GODAE and the wider scientific community. These products will fulfill not only the requirements of research scientists but also of operational oceanographic and atmospheric modeling activities and weather forecast agencies.
Level 4 SST products merges daily Level 2 SST products (from both microwave and infrared sensors that will contain error, statistical, metadata and other ancillary geophysical information) and global cloud free SST products. The creation of such climate quality SST products supports the NASA emphasis on climate data records and robust characterization of satellite-based measurements for use in modeling activities and climate research.
