GFDL Ocean Assimilation

This experiment is from a model used for seasonal to interannual prediction and studies of the time period 1981-2000.

The following variables are used on initialization and as a boundary conditions:

Time-varying wind forcing from 1980-2000 uses the climatological forcing from the NASA/DAO/SSMI analysis in addition to interannual anomalies from the NCEP Reanalysis. The choice of wind forcing was based on a consideration of the relatively poor simulation of the equatorial thermocline, particularly in the Pacific Ocean using NCEP climatological winds in comparison to the SSM/I winds.
